Active IQ - Level 3 Award in Conditioning for Exercise and Sports Performance
Introduction
This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan and instruct sports conditioning programmes to improve exercise and sports performance.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent, or a Level 2 Coaching qualification or a Level 2 Activity Leadership qualification. There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
Qualification Structure
Learners must complete the two mandatory units.
Assessment
- Coursework/Project.
- Portfolio of Evidence.
- Practical Demonstration/Assignment.

- Active IQ Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise Performance.

Active IQ - Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise Performance
Introduction
This qualification will enable learners to develop their understanding of nutrition for sport and exercise performance.
During the qualification learners will cover the following:
- the need for a healthy, balanced diet to optimise sports performance.
- how to access credible information about sports and performance nutrition.
- the benefits and risks of specific nutritional protocols that may be used to prepare for sports or fitness events.
- the current scientific evidence relating to the safety and efficacy of common, legally available supplements and ergogenic aids.
- understand nutrition for sport and exercise performance.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold one of the following:
- Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.
- Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.
- Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training.
And:
- Active IQ Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity, or
- Active IQ Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Exercise and Health.

Active IQ - Level 4 Certificate in Strength and Conditioning
Introduction
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare, deliver and review strength and conditioning programmes that will help athletes to achieve their performance goals.
During the qualification learners will cover the following:
- The role of a strength and conditioning coach as part of an athlete’s support team.
- Methods of carrying out performance-related needs analysis, measurements and assessments.
- Strategies to analyse and evaluate assessment findings in order to be able to develop and agree short-, medium- and long-term performance goals.
- Planning, delivering and evaluating periodised, performance-related strength and conditioning programmes.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold either:
- Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (or equivalent).
- Level 3 Coaching qualification (or equivalent).
- Level 3 Strength and Conditioning qualification (or equivalent).
Learners may also hold:
- Subject relevant higher education or further education qualifications that are equivalent or higher than those listed above (e.g. physiotherapy, sports therapy).
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3.
